Islamic State Claims Responsibility for Yesterday's Attack in London

The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack that took place yesterday in South London. Reuters reports this, citing the Amaq agency that covers Islamist activities.

According to the source, “The attacker in the Streatham area of South London yesterday was a fighter for the Islamic State, and he carried out the attack in response to calls to take action against citizens of coalition member countries.”

The perpetrator of the Sunday attack, who had used a knife to assault passersby and injured two of them, had previously made postings online related to Al-Qaeda and had urged his girlfriend to behead her parents. CNN reports that the individual in question is 20-year-old Sudesh Amman, who had recently been released from prison.

It is worth noting that police swiftly neutralized him, fatally shooting him at the scene. British authorities have classified the incident as a terrorist attack.
