Three Colleagues Arrested in Connection with the Death of Vahram Avagyan

On January 30, 2020, around 13:15, in the Artsakh Defense Army training center, three colleagues of conscript Vahram Mkrtich Avagyan have been arrested in connection with the criminal case surrounding his death. The information was shared on Facebook by Naira Harutyunyan, the head of the information and public relations department of the Republic of Armenia Investigative Committee.

The suspects are Davit Arakelyan Movsisyan, Khachik Armen Gasparyan, and Spartak Arturu Avetisyan. They have been detained on suspicion of committing a criminal act under Part 3 of Article 359 of the RA Criminal Code, which pertains to violations of the rules governing the relationships among military personnel in the absence of a superior-subordinate relationship. Such acts that result in severe consequences may be punishable by imprisonment for a term of four to eight years.

The investigation is ongoing.
