Rescuers Free Over 100 Cars from Snow Blockade

On February 2, at 01:20, the 911 emergency call center received information that a vehicle was trapped in snow on the Sotk-Karvachar highway. A firefighting and rescue team from the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was dispatched to the site.

The rescuers transported heated tent temporary bases to the drivers of vehicles including 'GAZelle' (driver: Arthur G.), 'Mercedes', 'Opel' (driver: Hovo I.), 'Mercedes' (driver: Armen G.), and 'Opel' (driver: Artyom A.), as well as to 29 passengers.

From 01:58 to 04:30, the rescuers managed to free more than 100 vehicles from the blockade. Between February 1 and 2, the National Center for Crisis Management of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received 12 calls regarding trapped vehicles in various regions of the republic. In particular, calls were made from Aparan city in Aragatsotn Province, as well as from the villages of Tsilkarm, Rya Taza, Geghadzor, and Yeghipatrush, from villages in Shirak Province including Amasia and Bandivan, and along the roads connecting Vardaghbyur-Torosgyugh, Vanadzor-Alaverdi, Yerevan-Sevan, Sotk-Karvachar, and Aparan-Saravan.

The arriving rescuers successfully freed all trapped vehicles.
