Five Armenian Citizens Denied Boarding on Ural Airlines Flight in China
Five Armenian citizens have found themselves in a difficult situation in China. In a conversation with NEWS.am, Liana Stepanyan shared that this morning they were supposed to depart from Xi'an Airport in China to Yekaterinburg, Russia, on Ural Airlines flight U6 764. However, they were informed at the airport that only Russian citizens could board the flight.
“They said there was no specific reason, no official document, just that they received an order not to let us on. It wasn’t just Armenians; there were also people from Belarus and Kazakhstan. We spoke with a representative of Ural Airlines, who said there was nothing they could do, as it was a decision from Russia. We called the embassy, explained the situation, and asked for help, but they did not provide any assistance,” she stated.
They reported that they are currently heading to Guangzhou, as they purchased new tickets.
It is worth noting that we previously reported that Russia is closing almost all air travel routes with China due to the coronavirus.
