Blizzard, Fog, and Snow: Road Closures and Difficult Conditions
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 1, at 12:00, there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed due to a blizzard, fog, and snow, with a buildup of vehicles. The Dilijan twists are closed for trucks, while passenger vehicles have difficulty navigating.
The section of the M-1 highway from Maiisyan to Ashotzk, the Lanjik-Mastara road (visibility at 100 meters, blizzard, fog, and snow), and the Gyumri-Armvair road are difficult for all types of vehicles.
The Sotk-Karabakh road is only passable for trucks with the use of chains (there is a blizzard, fog, and black ice).
There are patches of black ice on the Aragats-Artik and Maralik-Lanjik roads. In Yerevan, in the area known as 'Saravan-Zanger' (fog and blizzard), and in the Ararat, Shirak, Lori, and Kotayk provinces (except for the cities of Abovyan and Yeghvard), snow is falling. Snow is also reported in Sevan and Martuni of Gegharkunik province, Kapan, Goris, Sisian, Kajaran in Syunik province, Ashtarak, Aparan, Talin, Aragats in Aragatsotn province, and in Yeghegnadzor of Vayots Dzor province and Dilijan of Tavush province.
Regarding Lars, according to information from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of transport. The Russian side reports a buildup of 100 trucks and 20 passenger vehicles.
Drivers are advised to proceed only with winter tires.
