Black Ice, Snow, Blizzard: Road Conditions as of 11:00 PM
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of February 1, at 11:00 PM, there are closed and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks due to blizzard, fog, and snow, and is difficult for passenger vehicles. In Shirak province (black ice present) and in the regions of Vardenis and Gavar in Gegharkunik province, roads are impassable for all types of vehicles.
The Sotk-Karvachar road (blizzard, fog, and black ice) is passable for trucks only with the use of chains; however, it is difficult for passenger vehicles. In Syunik province, black ice is present on all roads at various points.
In Vayots Dzor province, snow is falling in the city of Jermuk and in the area known as Saravan-Zanger.
On the Gjumri-Armarvir highway, in the Baghravan-Anipemza section, and on roads leading from Lanjik-Mastara, Keti-Vardaghbyur, and Mantash-Aparan, there is a blizzard.
Fog is present on the 19th km of the Yerevan-Sevan highway leading to Hrazdan city in Kotayk province and in Goris city of Syunik province.
According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of North Ossetia of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles. As of 3:30 PM, the Russian side reported 220 trucks and 95 passenger cars accumulated on their side.
