29.7 Million Dram Allocated to the Arpa Protected Landscape

The Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF) is launching its support program for the specially protected natural areas of Armenia in 2020. As part of this process, CNF has allocated financial support of 29 million 730 thousand drams for this year to the Arpa protected landscape, formerly known as the Gnishik protected landscape. CNF has been providing support to the Arpa since 2014.

In total, from 2014 to 2019, the Caucasus Nature Fund provided approximately 185,000 euros in assistance to the Arpa protected landscape. In 2019, the fund allocated around 29 million drams, which were used for staff salaries, fuel purchases, spare parts, and payment of utility and other service fees, as well as other expenses, including, for the first time, health insurance for the staff of the protected landscape.

It is noteworthy that the efforts over the years in protection have yielded results; the Persian leopard, bezoar ibex, the brown bear, and other species have been regularly filmed in this protected area.
