Trump's Firm Statement: The U.S. Will Impose New Economic Sanctions on Iran

“As long as I am President of the United States, Iran will never be allowed to have nuclear weapons,” Trump began his address.

The U.S. President called on allies to abandon the nuclear agreement with Iran and work on a new deal that would make “the world a safer place.”

Trump also announced that Washington is preparing to impose new, tough economic sanctions on Iran.

“As long as we are determining a proper response to Iran, the United States will impose new, strict economic sanctions on the Iranian regime. The sanctions will remain in effect until Iran changes its behavior,” the U.S. leader stated.

No Americans were injured as a result of the Iranian missile strike on U.S. military bases located in Iraq on January 8.
