Violations Triggering the Points System for Drivers

Starting January 1st, drivers will receive 9 points for a year, which will be deducted for violations. The penalty points are 0.5, 1, 2, 3, or 4. If a driver commits violations regularly, that is, 3 or more times within a year, and the total penalty points amount to 9, their driving rights will be suspended for 6 months. Repeated violations within the next year will lead to a one-year revocation of driving rights.

1. Intentionally obscuring at least one digit of a vehicle's registration number: 25,000 AMD and 2 penalty points.

2. The transfer of a vehicle's registration number by the owner to another person: 25,000 AMD and 3 penalty points.

3. Failing to adhere to lane markings that separate opposing traffic flows: 10,000 AMD and 1 penalty point.

4. Violating intersection crossing rules: 5,000 AMD and 1 penalty point.

5. Violating pedestrian crossing rules: 5,000 AMD and 1 penalty point.

6. Violating overtaking rules: 5,000 AMD and 1 penalty point.

7. Violating traffic starting, maneuvering, or reversing rules: 5,000 AMD and 1 penalty point.

8. Driving against the flow on a one-way street (including reversing): 20,000 AMD and 2 penalty points.

9. Crossing the dividing zone of the road in an unapproved manner while making a left turn or reversing: 20,000 AMD and 2 penalty points.

10. Leaving the opposite lane without needing to overtake at permissible places or to bypass a stationary vehicle or obstacle: 25,000 AMD and 2 penalty points.

11. Violating stopping and/or parking rules: 5,000 AMD and 0.5 penalty points.

12. Parking that causes other drivers to stop or change their direction: 10,000 AMD and 0.5 penalty points.

13. Violating stopping and/or parking rules that lead to vehicle towing in protected areas or parking places designated for disabled people: 20,000 AMD and 0.5 penalty points.

14. Stopping a vehicle on a pedestrian crossing: 15,000 AMD and 1 penalty point.

15. Ignoring a red traffic signal or signal from a traffic controller: 25,000 AMD and 2 penalty points.

16. Exceeding the established speed limit by 11-30 km/h: 20,000 AMD and 2 penalty points.

17. Exceeding the established speed limit by 31-50 km/h: 25,000 AMD and 3 penalty points.

18. Exceeding the established speed limit by 51-80 km/h: 25,000 AMD and 4 penalty points.

19. Violating the legislation on road traffic safety, which results in an emergency situation: 20,000 AMD and 2 penalty points.

20. Driving under the influence of alcohol, if the driver is only impaired by alcohol and the violation does not fall under the second to sixth parts of this article: 25,000 AMD and 4 penalty points.
