Erdogan on the Situation in the Region

During the inauguration ceremony of the "Turkish Stream" gas pipeline, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the current situation in the region. He noted that tensions in the region continue and have reached a point that they would not have wished for.

"On the contrary, our neighbor Iraq is now at risk of losing stability, and the situation of Iraqi Turkmens is as important to us as the situation of the entire population. The residents of Iraq are our brothers, and Turkey is very sensitive to this issue. We have previously communicated this. We extended a helping hand to Iraq when the bells of war were ringing; our goal is to return calm reasoning to our region. This area should not become a new center of war; we must use all the resources at our disposal to prevent it from becoming a region of blood and tears. We hope to overcome this sensitive and tense period," he stated.
