Prisoners Cease Hunger Strike
All 6 individuals in the "Prisoners' Hospital" have ceased their hunger strike. In this regard, a statement from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia's Penitentiary Service reads: "On January 8, 2020, information was disseminated through various mass media stating that 8 individuals held in the MOJ's 'Prisoners' Hospital' penitentiary institution had declared a hunger strike. On the same day, the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service clarified that, in fact, 6 individuals had declared a hunger strike, all of whom have since ceased the strike. Despite this clarification, on January 9, some media outlets continued to spread misinformation regarding these individuals continuing their hunger strike. Emphasizing the public's right to accurate information, the Penitentiary Service once again informs that, as of today, there are no individuals declared on hunger strike at the MOJ's 'Prisoners' Hospital' penitentiary institution. The Penitentiary Service is always ready to provide reliable information and thus urges the public to verify the authenticity of news circulated by mass media with the Public Relations Department beforehand.
