87 Drivers Found Under the Influence in One Week; 26 Fined for Throwing Objects from Vehicles
The Road Police's first patrol unit conducted intensified service in the capital from December 16 to 22, during which they towed 144 vehicles. Of those, 25 drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol, while others either lacked proper documentation or committed serious traffic violations, endangering the lives and health of other road users.
According to the Public Relations and Information Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, during the intensified service, 88 vehicles exploiting violations of the transparency measurements of front windshields were also detected. The drivers of 44 of these vehicles rectified the violation by removing the film on the spot.
During the same period, the second patrol unit of the traffic police conducted intensified service in the regions, where they towed 88 vehicles. 62 of the drivers were found to be under the influence. Additionally, they discovered 8 vehicles being operated without license plates, 47 without insurance contracts, and 56 with tinted windshields.
26 drivers were fined for throwing various items and objects onto the street while driving. The intensified operations of the Road Police are ongoing.
