Pedestrians Fatally Struck on Khanjyan Street Opposite Vernissage

Today, on November 30, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Yerevan. Around 6:40 AM, a 24-year-old resident of Lori Province, Garnik Aghababyan, struck a female pedestrian aged 65-70 while driving his Nissan Tiida with temporary license plates on Khanjyan Street, opposite the Vernissage.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver did not flee the scene and called for Yerevan emergency services. The medical team that arrived promptly recorded the pedestrian’s death. The driver underwent a sobriety test at the scene, which confirmed he was sober while operating the vehicle.

Shamshyan reports that the pedestrian was crossing the street at a non-designated area. The police and investigative department are working to establish the identity of the deceased. By order of the investigator, the vehicle was moved to a designated storage area by the Yerevan Road Police.

It should be noted that there is an underground crossing for pedestrians in that area.
