Citizens Surrender Illegal Weapons and Ammunition to Police

Due to the explanatory work of police officers, several territorial subdivisions recently recorded voluntary handovers of illegally held weapons and ammunition. On November 27, a 31-year-old man residing in Yerevan reported to the Shengavit division of the police, stating that he had found a grenade while transporting belongings and presented the grenade with a detonator to the arriving police.

In the Mush division of the Shiraz city police, two cases were reported. On November 26, a young man voluntarily handed over eight units of factory-numbered, both double-barreled and single-barreled 'IZH' type shotguns, which are designed to fire 12mm caliber cartridges. On November 27, a 39-year-old man came to the Mush division and voluntarily handed over a grenade, a grenade detonator, magazines for a submachine gun, and 90 rounds of 5.45mm caliber ammunition, stating that he had found these items while cleaning a storeroom.

On November 27, a case of voluntary surrender of illegal weapons was also registered at the Noyemberyan division of the police. A 66-year-old man from the village of Jujivan brought in a double-barreled shotgun belonging to his deceased brother, which is designed for firing 16mm caliber cartridges. It is worth noting that those who voluntarily hand over illegally held weapons and ammunition are exempted from criminal responsibility.
