New Details Emerge on the Death of Former Police Chief Ashot Karapetyan
The body of former Police Chief of Yerevan, Major General Ashot Karapetyan, has been discovered in Pyatigorsk, under the rubble of one of the "Syurpriz" brewery buildings. This was reported by an employee of the brewery in a conversation with a Sputnik Armenia correspondent.
The incident occurred this morning at 7:00 AM. The building collapsed due to a gas explosion. Karapetyan's body was successfully retrieved from the debris only by 14:00. According to sources, the body of Karapetyan's uncle, 60-year-old Tigran Tarposhyan, was also found under the rubble.
“The bodies of the company's two executives, General Director Ashot Mamikonyan Karapetyan and Director Tigran Paruyri Tarposhyan, were removed from the rubble. They were in the administrative building, and the main brewery was not affected. The explosion, caused by a gas leak, occurred at 7:00 AM. At that hour, I and other brewery employees were at home,” said the employee.
Tigran Tarposhyan was the former head of the "Likhnitis" brewery in Sevan. The current director of "Likhnitis" is Ashot Karapetyan's elder brother, Vardan Karapetyan.
Ashot Karapetyan was 49 years old and had been working in the police system since 1993. He served as the Police Chief of Yerevan from 2015 to 2016.
