Driver of Wood Transport Vehicle Ignored Authorities' Instructions and Attempted to Flee
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an inquiry in the Syunik regional investigation department to clarify all circumstances surrounding the case of violence against a representative of authority by a resident of Vayots Dzor. The individual has been arrested.
According to preliminary data, on November 26, 2019, at approximately 19:00, two inspectors from the Goris division of the Armenian police stopped a "ZIL" cargo truck in the area known as the Shinhuhair crossroads in Syunik, on suspicion of illegally transporting firewood. The driver of the mentioned vehicle did not comply with the legitimate demand of the authority representative to present himself at the police station for a cargo legality check and attempted to flee.
This information was provided by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Subsequently, police officers from the same division and the road police, who responded to the inspector’s call for assistance, tried to stop the "ZIL" cargo truck using sirens and signals. However, the driver of the vehicle, ignoring the legitimate demands of the representatives of authority to cease the dangerous traffic, deliberately struck the rear of the police vehicle while driving towards the city of Sisian, forcing it off the roadway. The truck was eventually stopped with the assistance of road police officers coming from Sisian.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Syunik regional prosecutor's office under parts 1 and 2 of Article 316 and Article 326 of the RA Criminal Code, and the preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Goris investigation department of the RA Investigative Committee.
The driver of the cargo truck has been arrested and interrogated. A forensic medical examination has been ordered, and necessary investigative actions are being conducted to ensure a comprehensive, complete, and objective investigation of the case. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
