7.5 kg of Drugs and Medication Hidden from Customs Control Discovered by SCP
On November 26, employees of the customs anti-smuggling department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) and the main department of organized crime prevention of the Armenian police conducted an operation based on received operational information. They monitored a vehicle arriving from Georgia at the Bagratashen border checkpoint, including the driver and passenger, according to the SRC's information and public relations department.
As a result of the inspection, approximately 7.5 kilograms of various named medications were found concealed in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Furthermore, during the personal customs inspection of the vehicle's driver, a citizen of Armenia identified as T.M., 7 grams of a greenish substance resembling marijuana was discovered in the pocket of his pants.
Documents have been drawn up according to the features of Article 201 of the Armenian Customs Code and Article 267.1 of the Armenian Criminal Code regarding the incident. Citizen T.M. has been taken to the investigative department of the SRC, and the vehicle has been retained in the customs control zone.
