In response to an interview with Arthur Vanetsyan, political scientist Styopa Safaryan expressed alarm for the national security of the country that has been entrusted to him. He wrote on his Facebook page.

“The interviewer asks if Soros's followers pose a threat to our country. He responds affirmatively. I wonder, if they pose a threat, were you sipping tea or selling flowers? The same goes for other questions. I have never encountered such an irresponsible man,” he stated.

“When the journalist asks if there is a possibility that you will be prosecuted, his response is, for what? I would say, at least for incompetence, as you hinted at supposed national security threats in a multitude of areas, but provided no answers and presented no evidence. As if to say, I’ll speak more later... Just look at the responses to the promised speech by Serzh Sargsyan that was advertised for months, then decide whether you will speak or remain silent. Since 1999, Jahangiryan Gagik has been talking... It has been a disaster, and we did not know...”
