Surik Khachatryan in Paris, How Will He Be Brought Back to Armenia
Recently, the Investigative Committee has released a statement concerning the involvement of Surik Khachatryan, the former governor of Syunik, as a suspect. A detention measure has been chosen against him, and he has been put on the wanted list.
It should be noted that after the revolution, Surik Khachatryan left Armenia. There have been media reports suggesting that his health condition is very poor, even to the extent of being in a coma.
Khachatryan's close friend, former MP and general Sedrak Saroyan, stated during a meeting with journalists at his home, “Surik Khachatryan is in Paris, he has undergone a very serious surgery, he is in very bad condition, let him die in peace, you have no business with him. It is a pity, he is really in very bad shape. As far as I know, he is still in a coma.”
According to ArmDaily.am, after the revolution, Khachatryan was in Odesa, London, and Paris, and he is currently in Paris, where his health condition has stabilized, but he has no intention or plans to return to Armenia.
It appears that when the police conduct a search and officially ascertain that Khachatryan is not in Armenia, the issue of international search may arise.
It is also worth mentioning that previously, a court ruling declared Khachatryan bankrupt, and there were also reports in the media about him establishing a company in Great Britain.
Specifically, it has been revealed that during his time as governor of Syunik from 2011 to 2012, Khachatryan issued illegal orders through an official of the governor's office to hand over metal pipes belonging to the Noravan community in Syunik to his brother without any legal basis.
Additionally, between August and September 2016, Surik Khachatryan issued illegal orders to the head of the Akner community regarding the sale of a plot of land measuring 0.43 hectares adjacent to the road through a fraudulent auction to an individual designated by him, Ashot Gevorgyan.
