Vahagn Harutyunyan Discusses Returning to Armenia with His Doctors
The former head of the investigative team for the March 1 case, Vahagn Harutyunyan, is currently discussing with his doctors the possibility of interrupting his treatment, boarding a plane, and returning to the Republic of Armenia. This information was provided by Harutyunyan's lawyer, Mihran Poghosyan, in response to a question from the newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak'.
“While abroad, Vahagn Harutyunyan is closely following events in Armenia and is prepared to return to Armenia, as he understands that in his absence, the Special Investigation Service is concocting all sorts of stories against him,” Poghosyan mentioned during our conversation.
According to him, Harutyunyan has a strong desire to return to Armenia: “He wants to come back so that these machinations come to an end, and so that they see that the plots they have fabricated regarding his person have no connection to objective reality. Despite this, I personally advise him against taking that step.”
It is worth noting that Vahagn Harutyunyan was initially charged with falsifying important evidence in the March 1 case. Later, the Special Investigation Service announced that it had added to the charges, and now Harutyunyan is also accused of abusing his official powers, resulting in serious consequences through negligence, and exceeding official powers, accompanied by violence. A search warrant has been issued for him. He does not accept the charges made against him.
