France Closely Monitoring Robert Kocharyan's Trial: Macron Writes to Kocharyan's Lawyer
Robert Kocharyan's lawyer, French citizen Sevak Torosyan, told reporters that Macron had responded to his letter written a month ago.
The case of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, is of interest not only in Armenia but also abroad. This was stated today during a meeting with journalists by Kocharyan's lawyer Sevak Torosyan, who arrived in Armenia from France.
"It is no secret that for a year I have been reporting to the leaders of France and international organizations. Recently, I sent a detailed official letter to President Macron regarding the entire course of the past year. The consequences of this letter are not my business. It is a diplomatic matter. A few days ago, I received a letter from President Macron stating that France is closely monitoring Robert Kocharyan's trial," said Sevak Torosyan.
The French-Armenian lawyer also noted that Macron's letter surprised him, as the French President had no obligation to respond to his letter, so he was not expecting a reply.
"But he decided to respond, knowing that this response should not remain within the four walls of his office," Torosyan said.
In addition to the letters from the law office, Torosyan noted that detailed information about the trial is also being provided to their countries by embassies and diplomatic representations operating in Armenia.
It is worth reminding that on July 26, 2018, Robert Kocharyan was charged under Article 300.1, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for allegedly overthrowing the constitutional order of the Republic of Armenia in collusion with other individuals.
