Court Decides to Detain Anahit Faramian
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has approved on November 2 the investigator's motion to select detention as a measure of restraint for Anahit Faramian, the former vice-rector of Shirak State University.
This was reported by Marina Ohanyan, the spokesperson for the Special Investigative Service, in response to a query from Haykakan Jamanak.
It is noteworthy that Anahit Faramian is wanted by law enforcement.
Her personal guarantors, Members of Parliament Edmon Marukyan and Naira Zohrabyan, have stated that they have no information regarding Anahit Faramian's whereabouts and cannot ensure her appearance at the Special Investigative Service.
Earlier, the Special Investigative Service announced that Faramian has been charged with committing particularly large-scale theft under the first part of Article 178, paragraph 3 of the RA Criminal Code. According to the SSIS statement, Faramian has evaded appearing before the investigative authority during the preliminary investigation and has not provided valid reasons for her absence.
