Video: Mother of Deceased Soldier Throws Glass of Water at Investigator

Today, a significant discussion was scheduled in the Permanent Commission on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs of the National Assembly addressing the rights violations raised by parents of soldiers who died during non-combat actions in the Armenian Armed Forces, as stated by MP Naira Zohrabyan on her Facebook page.

“Present at the meeting were the grieving mothers in black who lost their sons, along with representatives from the Investigative Committee, the Military Prosecutor's Office, and the Ministry of Defense.

The parents have long argued that the classification of their sons' deaths as ‘suicide’ is a false and unjust result of the investigation and are demanding the reopening of the cases. The investigators present at the meeting were prepared to provide clarifications regarding all the cases and began presenting preliminary investigation materials, not all of which satisfied the grieving parents.

Unfortunately, as a result, tensions escalated, and it became impossible to continue the meeting in such an environment. By the decision of the commission, the session was interrupted, and we will now try to find a more effective format with the parents to continue discussions on this painful issue and restore justice.

Parents who lost soldiers should have no doubts regarding the investigation of their cases, period. I want to be assured that the subsequent discussions will take place in a more peaceful environment, because we should not dig enemy trenches within ourselves, and the parent of a lost soldier should not consider the investigator as their number one enemy. If this continues, we won’t progress. We need to listen to and respect each other. I regret the unfortunate incident that occurred today,” wrote Zohrabyan.

It should also be noted that a dispute arose between the investigators handling the cases of the fallen soldiers, other members of the commission, and the mothers of the deceased, during which one of the mothers threw a glass of water at one of the investigators.
