Video: Police Officers Arrested in Yerevan

Based on operational information received at the Main Department of the Republic of Armenia's Police, factual data has been obtained by the Department for Combating Corruption and Economic Crimes regarding a citizen's complaint. In an attempt to resolve the ongoing case in favor of the citizen, the senior inspector of the community police division of the Erebuni police department and another inspector from the same division, after negotiating with the investigator, demanded a bribe of $200 from the citizen. Following negotiations, they settled on an amount of 50,000 AMD.

On November 4, after receiving the demanded bribe of 50,000 AMD on Abovyan Street, the inspector of the community police division was immediately arrested and taken to the Main Department of the Police. A personal search revealed the bribe amounting to 50,000 AMD. A criminal case has been initiated by the police, which has been forwarded to the Special Investigative Service for further investigation. The senior inspector and the inspector from the Erebuni police department have been arrested. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
