The officers of the Police Department of Yerevan and the criminal investigation unit of the Erebuni division, along with investigators and the deputy prosecutor of the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts, Harutyun Khalatyan, visited the house at 63 Nor Aresh Street in the Erebuni administrative district. According to operational information received, a particularly brutal murder occurred there in September 2005, and to cover up the traces of the crime, the perpetrator buried the body in the basement at a depth of about 1.5 meters.

Moments ago, specialized experts dug up human bones, a skull, shoes, and tattered clothing from the specified location. According to G. Shamshyan’s reports, the victim was 82-year-old Nina Yaghuytyan, a resident of the same address, while the suspect in the murder has been apprehended by the Erebuni police. The suspect is 46-year-old Vardan Simonian.

According to details from a photojournalist, before burying her in the ground, he choked his victim. He initially attempted to kill her through electrocution, but upon realizing that she did not die from the electricity, he then opted to choke her and bury her in the basement.
