Charges Filed Against 40-Year-Old Neighbor in the Murder of a Woman on Vardashen Street
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has announced that charges have been filed against a 40-year-old neighbor following the investigation of a murder case involving a 64-year-old woman in Yerevan's Vardashen Street.
According to the information from the Committee's press office, necessary investigative and procedural actions have revealed several circumstances surrounding the woman's death. Earlier, the investigative committee had reported that on October 22, 2019, they received a call indicating that there was a murder in one of the apartments on Vardashen Street.
As a result of the necessary investigative actions and operational measures undertaken by the Erabus and Nubarashen regional investigation departments, the identity of the alleged perpetrator, a resident of Yerevan born in 1979, was determined.
According to the data obtained during the investigation, on October 21, 2019, around 8:00 PM, in the apartment of the 64-year-old woman, a dispute arose regarding personal relations. The 40-year-old man, with the intention to unlawfully deprive the woman of her life, inflicted multiple stab wounds to various parts of her body using a knife, causing injuries incompatible with life.
Based on the combination of sufficient evidence, the 40-year-old man has been charged under Article 104, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. He has been remanded in custody as a preventive measure. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
