The Health Condition of the Rescuer Injured in the Bazum Mountain Range Fire is Stabilized and Severe
The health condition of the rescuer who sustained burns while extinguishing the fire that broke out in the forests of the Bazum Mountain Range on October 25 is assessed as stabilized and severe. This was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia.
“On October 25, at 11:37, a fire was spotted in the northern part of Vanadzor city, in the Bazum Mountain Range, by the regional rescue department of Lori. A combat team and an operational group were dispatched to the scene from the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ regional rescue department. During the firefighting operations, two firefighters sustained burns of varying degrees. Minister of Emergency Situations F. Tsolakyan interrupted his visit to Tavush province and is now in Lori province,” the statement reads.
Firefighter Samvel Vardani Develyan (born in 1997) died on site, while Edgar Ishkhani Grigoryan (born in 1992) was transferred to the Vanadzor hospital and subsequently airlifted by the healthcare ministry's helicopter to the Ministry of Emergency Situations' assembly point, from where he was taken by ambulance of the Center for Disaster Medicine to the Republican Scientific Center for Radiology and Burns in Yerevan. At this moment, the injured person's health condition is assessed as stabilized and severe. Additional information will be provided,” the announcement further states.
