Drugs Discovered in 'KamAZ' Truck in Areni

On October 7, at 2:30 AM, police from Yeghegnadzor detained a 49-year-old man from Yerevan suspected of illegally possessing, acquiring, and using drugs in the area known as 'Areni Market' in the village of Areni.

The police reported that during a personal search, various packages containing a greenish, plant-based dry substance were discovered in the man’s jacket pocket. A search of the vehicle revealed two cigarette boxes from the left side of the driver's seat containing the same substance. The driver also presented two additional packages.

He claimed that the discovered material was a drug he had prepared in August from cannabis plants grown at his parental home in the Kharberd district of Yerevan for personal use. A forensic chemical examination has been initiated. Preparations are underway for further materials.
