Russia and Ukraine Carry Out Prisoner Exchange

Russia and Ukraine have completed a prisoner exchange, following the principle of 35 for 35. This has been reported by Interfax.

The Ukrainian An-148 aircraft landed at Kyiv's airport, while the Russian Tu-204 landed in Moscow. Among those returning to Moscow was Kirill Vyshynskiy, the head of the RIA Novosti Ukraine website, who was released from detention by a Ukrainian court, along with other individuals freed in accordance with the agreements between Moscow and Kyiv.

Ukrainian media reported that the aircraft traveling from Moscow to Ukraine, which carried Ukrainian citizens, landed at Boryspil airport. They were welcomed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Russia and Ukraine began working on the simultaneous release of convicted and detained individuals at the end of summer. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during the World Economic Forum that the issue of releasing citizens simultaneously would be resolved in the near future.

Ukraine and Russia carried out a prisoner exchange in the format of “35 for 35,” as stated by Tatiana Moskalkova, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia.

She noted that resolving the technical aspects of the exchange was quite complicated, as more than half of the citizens lacked identification documents.
