Details of the Murder Case of a One-Year-Old Child in Gyumri
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an inquiry in the Shirak regional investigation department to clarify the circumstances surrounding the murder of a child born in 2018. The child's mother has been arrested, according to the Investigative Committee.
On August 31, 2019, around 14:20, the body of the child was discovered in a dumpster in Gyumri, tied with adhesive tape and with her skirt wrapped around her neck.
Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated in the Shirak regional investigation department under the first part of Article 104 of the Armenian Penal Code.
The preliminary investigation revealed that between 23:30 and 24:00 on August 30, 2019, a 20-year-old woman, with the intention of unlawfully taking the life of her minor daughter, tied her hands and feet with adhesive tape in their apartment, wrapped her skirt around her mouth, and then moved the child to a nearby dumpster where she covered her with garbage, resulting in the child's death.
The 20-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the child. The preliminary investigation continues.
