Mikayelyan Launches Purge in the YEKM

According to the newspaper "Hraparak", immediately after taking the position of the president of the YEKM, Sasun Mikayelyan has taken up his sword against the former leadership. He has ruthlessly carried out a purge, dismissing all former officials without exception, from the YEKM accountant and spokesman to the heads of regional and territorial councils. He explained this by indicating he is clearing the remnants of the past, specifically the traces left by Manvel Grigoryan.

The new spokesperson for the YEKM is journalist Diana Davtyan, whose last workplace was 24news.am. She confirmed our information, clarifying: “After the election of the new president of the YEKM and the formation of a new management team with completely new members, during the board meeting, Mr. Mikayelyan proposed to dissolve all sections—both in Yerevan and in the regions—taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the new regulations of the YEKM. His proposal was unanimously accepted by all members of the administration.”

According to her, all leaders of the sections have been replaced at Mr. Mikayelyan's directive, and new individuals have been appointed as temporary officials of the structures, some of whom have been confirmed in their positions, while others may be confirmed or replaced by other candidates.

The spokesperson indicated that a council meeting is expected in the near future, where this issue will likely be addressed. The date of the meeting is still unknown.
