Russian Arms Supplier Sues Armenian Ministry of Defense
A criminal case has been opened in Armenia concerning the cancellation of a weapons supply tender. According to RIA Novosti, the tender, which had a budget of several million dollars, was announced in May and only the Russian company ORSIS met the requirements.
It later became clear that the tender was canceled without any explanation. ORSIS has since taken the matter to court and is represented by a lawyer in Armenia. As a result, a lawsuit has been filed. According to sources, the Ministry of Defense has also confirmed the information about the initiation of the criminal case.
“The Ministry of Defense stated that we did not submit the necessary documents, which is not true. Over the past few weeks, we have submitted all the information officially required by the ministry. As a result, it was stated that we allegedly did not present certain documents regarding acceptance,” said a company representative.
He also mentioned that the ministry requested a bank guarantee of several hundred thousand dollars, while the law only requires such a guarantee when a company wins a tender and then refuses to sign the contract. In his opinion, the complicated situation poses a threat to the cancellation of the project for the construction of a bullets factory in Armenia. It is expected that the enterprise will be established with Russian investments, amounting to several million dollars.
The Investigative Committee reports that there is no criminal case being examined regarding the termination of the weapons supply contract by the ORSIS company in the military investigation department's review.
