I Support Exploiting Amulsar Without New Expertise, Says MP Haik Gevorgyan from My Step Faction

I support that Amulsar be exploited without new expertise. This was stated today by MP Haik Gevorgyan from the National Assembly’s My Step faction during a conversation with journalists, referring to the exploitation of Amulsar.

Regarding the expertise, the MP mentioned that it is a very narrow professional issue, but in his opinion, there is no need for new expertise. “I support that Amulsar be exploited without new expertise,” said Gevorgyan, adding that currently all the facts are sufficient for exploitation.

Gevorgyan recalled that the Prime Minister has already stated that the documents have been sent to the Ministry of Environment to clarify whether a new environmental impact assessment (EIA) is mandatory following the additional expertise by Elard.

It is noteworthy that there are differing opinions within the My Step faction on this serious issue. Additionally, it should be noted that the Ministry of Environment will make a decision by September 4 on whether there is a need for new environmental impact assessment for the exploitation of Amulsar.

Recently, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page that the government's staff has sent the conclusion from Elard to the Ministry of Environment to determine whether there are data in the conclusion that necessitate a new environmental assessment for the exploitation of the Amulsar mine under Armenian law.
