I Don't Believe the Armenian Army General Would Order to Fire on the People: Sasun Mikayelyan Meets with Oganovsky

I don’t believe that an Armenian army general would order to fire on the people. This was stated today by MP Sasun Mikayelyan of the ‘My Step’ faction during a conversation with journalists in Tsaghkadzor, referring to accusations attributed to General Samvel Karapetyan (Oganovsky) by the BBC regarding his order to open fire.

“I don’t think a general who has gone through the battlefield would give such an order. Time will show. Such a thing cannot happen. As someone who has passed through war, he would never allow himself to order to shoot at an Armenian. I don’t believe a general of the Armenian army would order to fire on the people, for whom he has risked his life for our people, our state, statehood, and Artsakh,” Mikayelyan declared.

When asked if a military officer could disregard an order if such a task was set before him, Sasun Mikayelyan replied, “Of course, why wouldn’t he be able to?” He declined to comment on the reports about the arrest of General Samvel Karapetyan, stating that an investigation is underway: “An investigation is ongoing now; I cannot express an opinion. I am not a fortune teller for you.”
