Residents of Jermuk Await Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan
Days ago, the Investigative Committee published the final conclusion of the examination of the Amulsar mine. According to the results of the examination, the likelihood is very low that polluted waters from the Amulsar mine will impact the springs of Jermuk, as there are no pathways for underground water flow and pollution transfer.
This was followed by a spontaneous gathering and car procession in Jermuk in support of Amulsar. Today, the residents of Jermuk are awaiting the participation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in a discussion regarding the issue. Since early morning, news has been circulating online that large police forces are gathering near Jermuk, and officers are being dispatched to Vayots Dzor.
In response to an inquiry from ArmDaily.am as to whether this information is accurate, the police's public relations department stated that the police are operating strictly within the confines of the law and fulfilling their assigned duties.
In an interview with Infocom.am, Jermuk resident Shirak Buniatyan stated that the citizens will conduct their action today at 5 PM. The main objective of the action is for the residents of the Jermuk community to take to the streets once more to reaffirm that regardless of the examination results, their stance has not changed. They have always maintained that this is a resort area, and no type of metal mining should occur here. The residents are initiating a peaceful action with open hands, reaffirming their decision made over a year ago.
