International Committee of the Red Cross Has Yet to Meet Armenian Soldier Araik Ghazaryan in Azerbaijan

The International Committee of the Red Cross has yet to meet with Armenian soldier Araik Ghazaryan, who is currently located in Azerbaijan. Zara Amatuni, the head of communication programs for the Red Cross office in Armenia, stated this in an interview with Armenpress. "There has been no visit with the soldier yet. We are in dialogue with the authorities," said Amatuni.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense of Artsakh, on August 12, around 12:00 PM, Araik Haiki Ghazaryan, born in 2000, left his combat position under unclear circumstances from a military unit located in the southeastern direction of the Defense Army.

Azerbaijan has announced that the soldier is being held by them and has publicly shared photographs of him, in gross violation of international legal norms.

Representatives of the Azerbaijani ombudsman have visited Armenian soldier Araik Ghazaryan. Azerbaijani media report that the Armenian soldier has expressed no complaints regarding the conditions of his detention or treatment. According to these reports, Ghazaryan has also stated that his rights are not being violated and he has no complaints.
