Supporters of Kyrgyzstan's Former President Demand Resignation
Supporters of Kyrgyzstan's former president Almazbek Atambayev have gathered in the central square of Bishkek, demanding the president's resignation. This was reported by Adil Turdukulov, a member of the Political Council of the Kyrgyzstan Social Democratic Party.
It was previously reported that Atambayev had been transferred to the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he is to be questioned. The situation near the ministry's building remains calm, and the former president's supporters have not yet arrived.
It is worth noting that the special forces resumed their operation near Atambayev's house today after a protracted negotiation process. He has decided to voluntarily surrender to the authorities.
As a result of clashes between law enforcement and the former president's supporters, 85 people have been injured. It was reported yesterday that one of the special forces members had died.
