Former President of Kyrgyzstan Surrendered to Law Enforcement and Arrested
In Kyrgyzstan, special forces members have arrested the former president Almazbek Atambayev. His office has announced that he has surrendered to the authorities.
Earlier reports indicated that law enforcement agents had broken down the gates of Atambayev's residence, and gunfire occurred at the scene. An agency source stated, "About 200 police officers have launched a new assault, using flashbangs. The supporters, numbering around 400, are resisting them. They do not possess firearms; they are only armed with stones and sticks."
During the raid, Atambayev's supporters canceled a rally in Bishkek and headed to his residence. This marks the third attempt to storm the former president's home.
Additionally, it was reported earlier that supporters of former President Almazbek Atambayev had freed hostages held by special forces.
