The First Summer Draft of 2019 Has Commenced
The ceremonial launch of the first summer draft of 2019 has taken place. According to the information provided by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Armavir Regional Administration, a solemn ceremony was held today at the Sardarapat Memorial Complex to bid farewell to the new recruits going to military service from the Armavir region as part of the first summer draft of 2019.
The new recruits were accompanied by their relatives at this historic site, where they were sent off by the Governor of Armavir Region, the Chairman of the Regional Draft Commission, Hambardzum Matevosyan, the Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Armavir, Bishop Sion Adamyan, representatives of regional Executive bodies, members of the NGO "Union of Participants of the Four-Day War," and local mayors.
As per tradition, the officials, the diocesan leader, and the recruits paid their respects to the memory of those who fell in the Artsakh War by laying flowers at the cross-stone commemorating their memory.
Afterward, Governor Hambardzum Matevosyan greeted the attendees and delivered his best wishes on the occasion of the launch of the summer draft, stating, "I have the honor to welcome you from this historical site and congratulate you on this honorable day. Today you are taking a step towards the enemy in defense of our country and peace. Unfortunately, peace is not given; it is enforced through our united strength, and we are indomitable and invincible when we are united."
“Dear recruits, rest assured that every day you spend in the army will contribute to the development and strengthening of our homeland. We, in turn, are ready and obliged to honor your service with our work. Dear parents, I express my deep gratitude to you for raising such brave and courageous children. Wishing peaceful skies, good service, and safe return to all our recruits,” the governor concluded.
Bishop Sion Adamyan also extended his blessings and good wishes to the young men going into the army, stating, "For centuries our people did not have an army, and our children served on foreign soil, sacrificing their lives on foreign lands. Today is a fortunate moment for us when our boys are going to serve in the Armenian army, and they must protect our sacred borders, our homes, our faith, and our homeland. Dear recruits, we love and believe in you. You have proven that you are worthy children of our state and church, and you can bravely and wisely defend our homeland. We pray to God that the Lord protects you, your strength remains firm, your minds remain alert, and that you serve with brotherly love in this atmosphere and can return to your homeland.”
At the end of the formal event, the new recruits received packages containing essential items for their service from Governor Hambardzum Matevosyan, local mayors, and left with high spirits accompanied by patriotic songs to fulfill their duties to the homeland.
