The President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Belarus, today, July 1, visited the High Technology Park. He was accompanied by leaders of several leading information technology companies from Armenia.
The director of the High Technology Park, Vsevolod Yanchevski, introduced the president to the projects and products of the resident companies. High-tech solutions and developments were presented to the president in various fields including medicine, ecology, agriculture, and entertainment. Most of these are already being effectively implemented in various sectors of the economy.
The president also had the opportunity to test a motorcycle operating in virtual reality. At the end of the tour, while presenting the activities and programs of the technology park, director Vsevolod Yanchevski noted that the foundation of all this success is education: "At the core of everything are people, their knowledge and intellect. Without that, we would not have success. A great deal of attention is given to the educational system in Belarus. And education is the very foundation on which Belarusian IT records its success."
Summarizing the visit in a conversation with journalists, President Sarkissian stated that this was his second time at this organization. He noted that the established legislative framework and mechanisms have allowed the organization to develop new technologies in Belarus over the past few years. "This has not happened in one day," said President Sarkissian. "After the laws are adopted, it takes years for investors to be confident and for stability to exist, which is one of the important factors."
According to the President of Armenia, the second factor is the conditions offered to investors: "These conditions must be attractive because the world is a huge market and laboratory; you can go to any country and start your business, especially in this sector."
President Sarkissian also mentioned the educational system as another factor: "Belarus has a very high educational system and a potential similar to that of Armenia to develop that system. They have achieved great successes. Around 50,000 specialists work in this field, from small startups to large companies with global names. Therefore, Belarus' experience is very interesting for me, and it should be of interest to Armenia if we want to support the development of artificial intelligence at all costs. I believe that Armenia and Belarus are natural partners that can work in this field, and I hope to continue our dialogue with the President of Belarus on how the two countries can cooperate more deeply. We need to invite partners to come to Armenia to present their activities and experiences.
Today, artificial intelligence and new technologies are everywhere. There is not a single sector where you can operate without using technology—from politics to journalism, agriculture, and so on. New technologies offer many unexpected solutions everywhere."
The President of Armenia stated that relations should be developed with all countries—from Russia and the USA to France, Germany, and Italy. "In order to understand what is happening in the world, we need to develop rapidly along with the world," said President Armen Sarkissian.
The Belarusian High Technology Park unites around 570 companies in the information and high technology sector, engaged in software, application development, IT consulting, and the creation of computer and entertainment games, among other activities. Notable projects include the apps Viber, Juno, MSQRD, and the computer game World of Tanks. The mobile applications developed by resident companies of the technology park are used by more than 1 billion people, with five of the world’s ten largest corporations being clients of the technology park across 67 countries. Six of the resident companies in the technology park are among the world’s top 100 outsourcing companies.
