Minimum Wage Increase Proposed to 68,000 Drams

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia has conducted a study proposing an increase in the minimum wage by 13,000 drams, raising it from the current 55,500 drams to 68,000 drams. This was stated by Gemafin Gasparyan, the First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, on his Facebook page.

Referring to a draft decision included in the agenda of the Armenian government's June 20 meeting, which gave a negative conclusion to the proposal by ‘My Step’ faction lawmakers Babken Tunyan and Varazdat Karapetyan to increase the minimum wage to 63,000 drams, Gasparyan wrote: “Our Babken shared a picture that allows for a wrong conclusion, I am confident it is a result of poor communication. Now, let me present a part of the conclusions from the study conducted by the ministry, where we propose to increase the minimum wage to 68,000 drams instead of the 63,000 that Babken's proposal suggests. This issue is on our agenda. Of course, this picture will be less circulated.”
