Law to Limit Lottery Advertisements on Television and Radio Unanimously Passed
The National Assembly of Armenia has unanimously approved a draft law aimed at restricting lottery advertisements broadcasted on television and radio during its second reading.
According to Armenpress, the proposal put forward by Hratchya Hakobyan, a member of the My Step faction, introduces amendments to the law on advertising and the law concerning gambling games, internet gambling games, and casinos. The vote took place during the Assembly's session on June 19.
The draft stipulates, in particular, that advertisements for every lottery broadcasted through television channels are allowed only between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, and on the radio from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This is excluding the hour before and after children's programming. During these periods, the total duration of the advertisements, including promotional communications and information concerning the lottery or its organizer, cannot exceed three minutes, which can be broadcasted no more than twice per hour with a total duration not to exceed 60 seconds.
During the shift from the first to the second reading, certain modifications were made to the draft. Notably, external advertising must not exceed 5 square meters and should only include the logo.
