Inmate with Serious Health Issues Transferred to Hospital with Assistance from Human Rights Defender

The lawyer requested the support of the Human Rights Defender to organize proper medical care for his client, as reported by the Office of the Human Rights Defender.

The lawyer claimed that his client has serious health issues, and the medical assistance provided by the penitentiary institution has had no positive effect, resulting in a deteriorating condition day by day. The inmate's brother also addressed the same issue to the Defender.

In response to the raised concerns, discussions have started within the Human Rights Defender's staff, and necessary measures have been undertaken, including letters sent to the Ministry of Justice's Penitentiary Service, and a visit to the penitentiary institution was conducted. Representatives of the Defender had a private conversation with the inmate.

He raised concerns regarding his health condition and the conditions in his cell. In particular, he noted that due to his health condition, he is unable to use the cell's restroom independently, as it is of the Asian style.

Additional letters were sent to the Penitentiary Service regarding organizing the individual’s hospitalization and ensuring access to the restroom.

As a result of the discussions, with the assistance of the Defender, the inmate has been transferred to the "Prisoner Hospital" penitentiary institution for inpatient examinations and treatment.
