Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has died. According to international news reports, Morsi’s health deteriorated after a court session, during which he lost consciousness and passed away.
Mohamed Morsi was an Egyptian statesman and politician. He served as the President of Egypt from June 30, 2012, until July 3, 2013, making him the fifth president of the country. He was the chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party, established by the Muslim Brotherhood following the Egyptian Revolution on April 30, 2011.
Morsi won the presidential elections in the second round in 2012, leading the country for just over a year until his regime was toppled by a military coup on July 3, 2013. After the overthrow of his regime, the new leaders arrested Morsi and accused him of connections to the Muslim Brotherhood organization, which was later designated as a terrorist group.
