Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Armenian Foreign Ministry's Statement
Armenia must take steps towards resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in accordance with the demands of the international community, said a statement from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in response to the recent comments from Armenia's Foreign Ministry.
"The emotionally charged and at the same time contradictory statement from the Armenian Foreign Ministry regarding the current situation at the contact line of Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces is understandable. It likely corresponds to the internal political situation in Armenia," the statement read.
In its response, the Azerbaijani side reiterated that Armenia is the "sole culprit" for the losses and bilateral disagreements.
Earlier, the Armenian Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the intentional actions taken by Azerbaijan in the past three days that led to an escalation of tensions, including false information regarding casualties and direct calls for physical violence against Armenian leaders made publicly by representatives of the ruling party in Azerbaijan's parliament, in addition to a significant increase in ceasefire violations.
The statement emphasized that Armenia resolutely calls on Azerbaijan to demonstrate real political will through specific and effective actions to maintain the ceasefire, and that Azerbaijan bears full responsibility for the risks of further escalation of the situation.
