‘Hraparak’: The Boycott of Approving the Agenda in Parliament was Organized by Haik Sargsyan
‘Hraparak’ newspaper reports: “Yesterday, the agenda in the National Assembly was not approved on the first attempt. Before the second part of the agenda was put to a vote, the parliament discussed and voted on the projects that received a negative conclusion from the main committee for one and a half hours.
The unexpected part was that the session had just begun, and it is usually not a problem to have a quorum at that hour in the parliament. However, there were discussions in the National Assembly yesterday that the boycott of approving the agenda was organized by Haik Sargsyan, a member of the ‘My Step’ faction.
Taking advantage of the absence of the Prosperous Armenia party members, who had left in a procession to escort Gagik Tsarukyan, Haik Sargsyan, along with a group of his allies, also left the hall. As a result, the adoption of the agenda was thwarted. The thing is, the second part of the agenda also included a question about amending the law ‘On Lotteries,’ and according to media reports, Sargsyan has close ties with Sergey Manukyan, the owner of ‘Goodwin,’ and Shinaut's Serj.
The question of accepting the second part was put to a vote and received 61 votes in favor, while 66 votes were needed. The rules of the National Assembly allow for a second attempt, after an intermission, when the members of the Prosperous Armenia party had returned, the package was presented for voting again; this time, the deputy was also absent.”
