Fundraising for Orphanage Children in Northern Avenue is Fraud: Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia announces that no fundraising has been conducted by any state-run institutions – including orphanages, daycare, or nighttime care centers – under its jurisdiction, either online or in public spaces. This was communicated by the ministry's public relations department.
In a statement released by the ministry, it is noted:
“In response to reports circulating in the media about a fundraising event recently held in Northern Avenue under the pretext of supporting children from the Gavar orphanage, we feel it is necessary to officially declare that the organizers of fundraising initiatives carried out in the name of any state-run institution under the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs are engaging in fraudulent activities by exploiting the names of orphanage children.”
Regarding the fundraising event in Northern Avenue, the Police of the Republic of Armenia has reported that on May 27 at 10:00 PM, police officers filed a report against an individual who organized an illegal concert in Northern Avenue. After collecting funds under the pretext of donating the proceeds to the orphanage children, the individual fraudulently took possession of the money. An investigation is currently underway.
We urge citizens to remain vigilant and not fall victim to deception, and to immediately inform the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of such initiatives by calling the hotline at 114 or the Police of the Republic of Armenia at 1-02.
