Why No Officials from Artsakh Were Present at Yesterday's Events
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports: "In connection with the 101st anniversary of the First Republic, traditional events were organized yesterday in various locations, with the largest-scale events taking place in Sardarapat and Bash-Aparan. The ruling elite was present at the Sardarapat event, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President Armen Sargsyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, and National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan.
However, the event held in Aparan was smaller in scale. Yet, perhaps for the first time, Artsakh officially did not participate in the festive events taking place in Armenia, and this certainly gives food for thought.
"Zhoghovurd" contacted David Babayan, an advisor to the President of Artsakh, for comments. However, he avoided giving a clear answer about whether there was an invitation, only emphasizing that this format was chosen due to President Bako Sahakyan's commitments.
"You know that members of the OSCE Minsk Group are in Artsakh and the President has had meetings with them. That is the only reason; there’s no need to look for ulterior motives. This format was chosen this time," Babayan noted. Although David Babayan explains the President's absence by his commitments, it should be emphasized that no official from Artsakh participated in the events yesterday."
