We Need to Form a Unified National Agenda, Armen Sarkissian

Armen Sarkissian has sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Republic Day. This has been reported by the presidential administration.

The president's message states:

“Dear compatriots,

I warmly congratulate you on Republic Day.

The Armenian people today celebrate the anniversary of the restoration of our statehood, a day symbolizing the struggles and achievements of the Armenian nation and the victory of our unyielding spirit.

The path that the Armenian people have traversed in shaping and establishing Armenian identity and statehood is heroic and glorious—our losses have only strengthened our desire to live, our focus has been on creativity, and our strength has been directed towards establishing peace.

Let us be grateful to all those who built the First Republic of Armenia in 1918, to those who maintained Soviet Armenia since 1920, and to those who revived independent Armenia in 1991, as well as to all those who have preserved and protected it for nearly three decades.

Ensuring the security of Armenia and the Armenian people and its sustainable development is a pan-national issue. Such pan-national issues can only be resolved through collective efforts—utilizing the entire potential and resources of Armenia, Artsakh, and the diaspora.

We must form a Unified National Agenda with overriding issues and priorities of common vital importance, and every one of us should be involved in the decision-making process regarding common issues.

In this regard, the role of our youth is invaluable. Today, I especially appeal to our younger generation living in Armenia, Artsakh, and various corners of the world, calling for unification on our homeland rooted in independent statehood. Today we have the best opportunities to live and develop on our own land, to dream and think about tomorrow, to complete our homeland as a unified idea and a powerful, viable state entity. We cannot afford to be satisfied with our achievements; today we have a historical opportunity to improve our country, to contribute to the strengthening of our homeland, and more than ever, today we can and must, together, dedicate the triple power and potential of Armenia, Artsakh, and the diaspora to Armenia.

I congratulate us all on this holiday in Armenia, Artsakh, and the diaspora. Peace, victory, and success to all of us and each of us, to our country, our people, each family, each citizen. I am confident that the history of our statehood in the coming centuries will record the new successes and victories achieved through the unity and creative work of the Armenian people.
