VIDEO: Pope Francis Kisses the Feet of South Sudan Leaders

Pope Francis knelt and kissed the feet of the former leaders of South Sudan, urging them not to return to civil war.

“I ask you, as a brother, to preserve peace. I ask you from the bottom of my heart, let us go forward. There will be many problems, but they will not overcome us. Resolve your issues,” said the Pope.

The Sudanese leaders were reportedly shocked when the 82-year-old Pope, who suffers from chronic foot pain, knelt down with the assistance of his aides to kiss their feet as well as those of others in the room.

After that, he approached the African guests and knelt to individually kiss the feet of each one. It is noted that the politicians who arrived at the Vatican signed an agreement in September 2018 to end the bloodshed in the country.
